The question comes to mind: What is the validity, the importance of pre-season? In the past the pre-season and the strength of the schedule was something significant (according to CIF and everybody else's rankings) and crucial to playoff implications. But I'm seeing a trend that some Coaches are gravitating to a weaker, ie. less damaging pre-season schedule. Some Coaches have been doing it for a long time and having succes especially last year...IMO that strategy will work with the long season and playoff changes coming in 2012. This really came to light with CC's new schedule (thanks VDAD) and Escalon's state championship schedule. What say you?

I dont think a super tuff pre-season schedule is going to be has significant in the 2012 season because of the regional games. The section playoffs will narrow it down to the 2 best teams from the north and south.

It really dont matter who you play in the pre season! If you keep winning in the playoffs ,you keep playing!

From what I see Merced,CC and Oakdale are the area teams that every year seem to take on realy tough teams. Now there will still be some way of picking the teams to play in div. games seems pre-leage game should have some impact?

You are partially right, but the pre-league schedule could be a huge factor in determining seeding for the top teams and whether they make it to the playoffs for many mid-pack teams.
