I think Sonora came prepared to play this game and physically out played Sierra. Sierra played without their starting QB and that was clearly a big factor in a close game.

"But three turnovers and a number of costly penalties - including a holding call that nullified a 53-yard touchdown pass from Adrian Valencia to Ruben Lopez that would have given Sierra a 14-7 lead early in the fourth quarter - stalled drives and killed momentum all night."
Had you said Sierra would spot Sonora 17 points on offense I'd take it every time. Sonora fixed the problems that haunted them last week and Sierra turned the ball over numerous times and played sloppy. Against good VOL teams you turn the ball over you will lose every time.
IMO, Sierra's offensive scheme shot themselves in the foot and did Sonora a favor by relying on their junior backup QB to win the game. A daunting task for even a senior QB. Sierra must not have had confidence in the run game as Daniels did not touch the ball in the 4th qtr.
"The Wildcats finished with 299 rushing yards in 61 carries, and overall out gained Sierra 331-222. Sierra running back Jarrod Daniels finished with 67 yards on 15 carries, but did not have a carry in the fourth quarter.
