Modesto Junior College will be offering two Boys and Girls Summer Basketball Camps, one on June 15-18, 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for boys and girls entering grades 2nd - 4th and on June 22-25, 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for boys and girls entering grades 5th - 8th. MJC will also offer a High School Boys Basketball Camp on July 20-23, 12 noon - 2 p.m. All three camps will be held in the MJC Gymnasium located on East Campus.
The four-day youth camps emphasize ways they can improve their game by teaching the key fundamentals in offense and defense while having fun. Participants will work on their shooting, ball handling, defensive stance, triple-threat and offensive and defensive strategies.
The high school attendees will be given instruction in shooting, individual defense, ball-handling, perimeter m oves and will participate in a number of skill improvement drills including explosion, fast break, footwork, and low post moves.
MJC's Men's Basketball Coach Paul Brogan will oversee the camps, which will feature MJC players from the men's and women's basketball program assisting in skill development and coaching.
Advance registration for the two youth camps is $100 and includes a t-shirt and two MJC basketball game tickets for next season. A discount is available for families signing up several children: $175 for two; $250 for three; $325 for four participants. Registration for the High School Boys Basketball Camp is $50 and also includes a t-shirt and two MJC basketball game tickets for next season.
