Small School Team Dual Waterford vs Escalon 1.6.10

Trans-Valley League action this Wednesday night at Escalon High School when the Cougars host the Waterford Wildcats at 6:30 PM. For the uninitiated to high school wrestling, I believe a team dual competition is the best introduction to the sport.
There are 14 weight divisions 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, and heavyweight. Each school puts forth their best wrestler, at each weight, to wrestle 3 two-minute rounds or until one wrestler wins. Points are awarded for each victory and a team total determines the victors. Varsity team dual competition lasts for about 90 minutes and each match has a life of its own! Junior varsity wrestlers also compete before the varsity wrestlers. Come to enjoy small school wrestling at its best as these to very competitive schools take to the mats. $5 general admission charge is a small donation compared to the return for your dollar. Support high school wrestling and give a fin to the cougars athletic programs. Wrestling the other winter sport.
